The whole book falls flat. The characters are one dimensional and there’s no real plot.

It’s a huge stretch to try and make it seem like the first spicy scene is CNC or DubCon. I’d definitely classify it as straight up SA so big trigger warning there.

“Oh, little bunny…you have no idea how much I want to wreck you. And I’m looking forward to you learning how much you’ll love it when you let me.”

AJ Merlin writes the most unhinged, morally black, but still fun MMCs and I will read anything by her. Kai has not had an easy life and has a difficult time connecting with people because of it, but something about Huxley draws her in. He can see parts of his “little bunny” that no one else does. I loved the Scream-ish vibe of how they first meet. There is a dubcon scene, so be mindful of your triggers.

This one would be particularly good for anyone not really sure if they would be into a horror themed romance because unlike the other books I’ve read by her, there is no actual on-page murder. You know Huxley is a serial killer, and there is definitely blood, but you don’t see him actually kill anyone.

What to expect:
✔️ MF
✔️ A prank call gone wrong
✔️ HEA
✔️ Stalking
✔️ Primal
✔️ Dubious Consent
✔️ Kidnapping

AJ Merlin is one of my favourite dark romance authors because she brings me twisted, morally gray serial killer men while still making them likable. Hux fits that role so well: protective, kinky, dark, and, in his spare time, a serial killer.

Kia is a likable female main character who has just returned home from an emotional trip to see her family and attend her uncle’s funeral. To cheer her up, her girlfriends show up for some bonding, a movie marathon, a few drinks, and a couple of harmless prank calls—or so they thought.

I enjoyed No, You Hang Up, which I read quickly. I was fully engaged in the storyline, wanting to see if Hux and Kia would get their own happy ending. I am giving it a rating of 5 / 5 stars.
