OH MY GOD this was everything!!!!! I absolutely devoured this, and if I wouldn’t have started it late in the evening I would have finished it in one sitting. The story was so wonderfully crafted, the characters were so delightfully awkward and really embodied the spirit of early high school. I am so excited for whatever books Khalilieh writes next.

We love neurodivergent representation. Teenagers as silly, and the love triangle dragged on longer than I would have liked, but the main characters felt like they were realistically flawed (for the most part). I would have liked a little more time spent on Jessie's family and her interests outside of boys, but I also understand that it was all part of who she is as a love-struck 15 year old. The blurred moral lines were questionable for me as they just seemed to be accepted rather than addressed and used for a developmental arc but so it goes with hormonal teenagers?

Standard high school rom-com, but I really enjoyed seeing a main character on the spectrum. I also liked that this didn't focus on racism because I feel like that would have taken away from Jessie's growth in regards to her diagnosis.
