Big thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for the eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This was a very quick, very fun read! The Spy Who Raised Me is action-packed and fast-paced. I read it in one short sitting and really enjoyed it. There were some plot twists in the midst of the funny codewords and sincere messages about being yourself. I'm glad I picked this up and would definitely read more from this author!

I'm kind of surprised that this was a MN book award winner--it didn't blow me away by any stretch of the imagination. It is certainly fast paced, and is a really fun premise. However, I thought that there wasn't a lot of character development, some loose ends that are a little too ready to fray, and that the art style wasn't very consistent. Overall, it was fine, but won't stick with me at all.

Meh. The art is uninspired and the story is bland. It's a fine read.

[I received an electronic review copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.]

3 stars = Good/solid/fine
The premise of this - a girl brainwashed into being a spy by her own mother - is clever. There are a couple interesting twists. The artwork didn't work for me, though. It isn't my preferred style, but it also wasn't great in some of the action panels. The story alone might have gotten 3.5 stars.
