Not as good as the first two books in the series. It does have a HEA though. I wish she would have just punched Candice right in the face! But at least she did something

Genre: Spicy, contemporary romance, fiction
My summary: Silas is a star hockey player and still reeling two years after walking in on his long-term high school sweetheart cheating on him right before he planned on proposing to her. When the cheating slutbag gets hired in the marketing department of his hockey organization, Silas is at a bar drinking his feelings about it away. Ollie is a journalism intern heading into her senior year of college. Ollie has just found out her arch nemesis in the journalism program assigned her hockey for the final assignment, when Ollie knows nothing about sports, right before Ollie finds out she’s dating Ollie’s ex too. Ollie panics, says she has a new boyfriend and kisses the nearest guy at the bar—Silas. After Silas and Ollie chat afterwards, they realize that fake dating would be mutually beneficial to both of them, and soon what starts as fake starts to turn real and complicated.
My thoughts: This was an overall cute read, with a nice balance of being funny and spicy. I liked Ollie’s feistiness and confidence. I liked Silas being such an emotional and private guy for being a bruising, superstar hockey player. This was my first book by Meghan Quinn—and it definitely won’t be the last! The hype around her books is justified, and I regret not getting around to reading her sooner. I completely started this series out of order, so now I can’t wait to go back and read the others.

It's cute, but the miscommunication at the end is awful. It is in the last 20% of the book, and I just hate that. Especially since so much of their relationship, even the fake part, was built on communication. I know Silas has his past, but it just didn't make sense.

I would skip this book. Readers trust writers with our time and this boon wasted mine. Almost DNfesld many times. The FMC is hard to deal with and is almost unbelievable in how annoying and terrible she is. The book could have ebeen 200 pages shorter as well, and then we could've gotten a story for Ross or something whose relationship and side story was better than the main plot.
