majesty is a book that had me thinking it would end one way the entire time, but ended up going in a completely different direction at the very end. im not sure how i feel about the way the events ended up playing out

this is the second (and possibly last?) book in the American Royals series by Katharine McGee and i really enjoyed both books! they are definitely for a y/a audience and i do not typically read y/a but this one didn't feel too immature to enjoy as an adult.

the book picks up a couple months after the first one ended, and beatrice is now the queen and making tougher decisions than she ever saw coming when she was the princess. she struggles with being the first female queen in america and not being taken seriously because of it, uncertainty about her love life, and has to navigate her new role as queen while still grieving the sudden loss of her father.

the story is filled with drama that kept me engaged and also managed to discuss real-world issues that are taking place today in the 21st century. McGee was able to capture today's problems while still writing an enjoyable fiction story and for that i applaud her.

i am surpsied that there is not going to be another book in this series, as there is definitely room for a third book where the characters left off here. i need to see what happens in jeff and daphne's future like now! poor guy. anyway good book and i enjoyed it just as much as the first one!

What a fun, surprising sequel. This was just a lovely, good-time read and, honestly, better than the first book.
