This was miles better than book one and it felt like the author was settling into the characters a little more. Both of the leads are so much more complex and loveable than the previous book. It was also surprisingly tender and sweet which is always surprising when it comes to mafia romance.

I was just a little bored by the end of this unfortunately and I have a feeling that each book in this series is going to follow a very similar formula because the three I’ve read so far have all felt very much the same. I wanted to binge the whole series but I’m already the tiniest bit over it.

CHECK THE CWs PRETTY PLEASE

I would recommend it if you like a mafia romance with a good dose of sweetness and a MMC that needs a little direction, if ya know what I mean.

This was a book that I could not put down.

This is much darker than the first book and a little more detailed when it comes to the abuse and torture of Ronan’s early years.

But I fell in love with both Ronan and Sasha, and they are a couple that I just want to stay happy forever. I don’t want any other trauma to touch them because they finally have a home and safe place with one another.

I did not enjoy this as much as the first book, because it heavily deals with child abuse/trauma (a lot of which is intense psychological, physical, emotional and some moments of sexual as well), sexual abuse (including children), domestic violence, etc. A LOT of this is on page and explicit. The characters are truly both going through A LOT and I’m not a believer in relationships can be salvation, so this book was a little difficult for me. BUT I do see how healthy relationships is something that both characters were SEVERELY lacking and how the introduction of that could change so much for them. That being said, I really loved both characters separately and I enjoyed seeing them being genuinely KIND and patient to/with one another (because they both had little of that in their lives.) I think this is the ONE romance where I would have liked it to be more on page slow burn? Like these people can’t do therapy, but uhhhh something has to give LOL.

Also, like the consensual sex scenes are all so cold to read? Not intimate at all.
