Now I realise why some ppl still watch Riverdale despite it being shitty as fuck because it’s fun to make fun of how bad the show is, just like this book 😹
What a fucking mess! 🥱
The heroine is annoying and pathetic. Not only she’s still in love with her ex despite being in a relationship, but also she’s in a relationship because she’s doesn’t want to be single 😶🌫️
Plus, she’s giving the hero’s sister all the advice and encouragement to be romantically involved with a guy who’s already in a relationship. Can’t say I’m surprised when she herself is cheater;
“She had cheated on Hayden. One kiss. A drive with Brady. The feel of his hands sliding across the waistline of her pants.”

“She knew that Hayden was the right choice. He was sensible, attentive, handsome, caring and he would never hide her. He was as fucking perfect as Victoria described him. But still… he wasn’t Brady.”
You know, how sometimes a song gets stuck in your head and you can’t get rid of it well that’s Brady for Liz, he is a song which Liz can’t get out of her head and he isn’t there for just a day or two, he is fixed in her life permanently and she isn’t getting rid of him anytime soon. (And that’s a bad attempt of me being poetic but still…) anyway, and you know, what I wrote in my previous review about the potential love triangle happening further in the story, well that happened and it surely made me cringe for better part of the story.
At the end of the previous novel, “Off the Record” Liz walks out of his relationship with Brady. After months of being miserable and sad she finally decides to move on with her life and starts dating Hayden who is the editor of the college newspaper, Liz works for. They have a perfectly healthy relationship and everything that Liz wants for herself but you know, what I said about, song… head… stuck so no matter how hard she tries to move on she simply can’t get away from the memories of Brady and no matter how perfect Hayden is, he will never be the charming politician that Liz fell so hard for.
In some ways, this is the weakest book in the series but in other ways this is also the most emotionally exhausting and heart-breaking book in the series. I will be honest, I was annoyed for the better part of the book, annoyed because for more than half the time, the plot focused on the relationship between Liz and Hayden. And I was all for Liz and Hayden’s dreamy relationship but I knew from the start that it wasn’t going to work and it was always about Liz and Brady finding their way back to each other but the way everything played out and the character destruction of Hayden in the process infuriated me. I was annoyed at Liz because while she isn’t the most perfect female lead at least I understood some of her actions in the previous book but in this book, she makes one stupid decision after another like I can’t even talk about it.
As for Brady, as much as he is a cocky bastard and as much as he hurt Liz in the previous novel, honestly, I missed him being a constant in the story. He was kind of there in the story but he also wasn’t there and obviously his whole sham relationship with Erin annoyed me to no end. However, the fact is no matter how infuriated I was by the actions of these characters, I also felt so deeply about the difficult circumstance they were in. I felt Liz’s desperation, loneliness and her craving for Brady. I felt Brady’s misery, torment and love for Liz and to a certain extent I even felt for Hayden, don't get me wrong non-consensual sex can never be justified but the fact that he was always this perfect guy whose character all of a sudden took a 360 degree flip is something I am having a hard time wrapping my head around. I was glad that Liz and Brady finally decided to "Talk first and act later", it was long time coming and once again that last chapter from Brady's POV just hit home for me. This charming politician sure knows how to win hearts.
I suppose that when a story even with so many imperfections can so deeply effect its reader, like this book did to me, it’s worth reading. At the end, everything turned out to be more or less perfect, Liz and Brady still has so much to deal with and it’s going to be extremely trying and complicated but you know, “The heart wants, what the heart wants” no matter how difficult the circumstances may be, love that consuming transcends every obstacle. Also, Clay Maxwell, giant douchebag is insufferable in this book but I love him all the same.

Spoiler
I mean this is a spoiler but the moment when she went away with Brady after her argument with Hayden, I legit wanted to slap this woman for being such a naïve person and I legit would have stopped reading if something were to happen between Liz and Brady. ( by something I mean sex and no it didn’t happen…)As for Brady, as much as he is a cocky bastard and as much as he hurt Liz in the previous novel, honestly, I missed him being a constant in the story. i fucking love clay....sexy jaded...deliciously dark. i wanna fuck his brains out. too bad it's wrong brother
the problem...
lawd. is what this book is. it's one long southern lawd... i think the twist. is really great. i loved the twist.
possibly the worst freakin best friend. she is so "blank" as well just a pussy out there fucking. nothing wrong with that. but you must write moments as an author to humanize these people we are reading. otherwise it's just some chick throwing her pussy around. and good on her for control her body without shame but....... i know nothing. it feels like i dunno....feels like......... the author i dunno it's a great idea. it's a great outline. the problem is building her characters. i enjoy how she fix. liz so we know more.(she isn't the super sweet person she isnt wide eye incoent she's young and dumb and a bit of a cock tease.. shes kinda i dunno.. not perfect.. just flawed enough to like.. and not enough to hate) but... to have a complete book.. you gotta build your people and you gotta make us care. you have to make us care. cos i dont care about brady. i dont care about her friend i dont care about anything i find myself caring more about justin then the lead male. and that's a problem. i find myself caring about the little sister of the side piece then i do about.. most people in the book. and altho that information is a great subplot and i love books with subplots. she did no work on almost anyone else. it's a book still missing half it's heart. like a dove with one wing .. death spiraling to the ground. as plots tend to do.. at the climax of books but the problem is. i dont care. i could watch that dove go splat without much thought because..... simply put. i dont know how much that dove love to fly.. i dont know how sweet the wind felt everyday it touch the sky .. i dont know that the dove was on it's way to feed it's lil babies. and i didnt know about that hawk... because no one told me......so i dont give a damn...im not crying my eyes out.. im not a snotty mess.. im not even angry at the guy that much... im not "with liz" that is this book series. in a nutshell that first book.. is so.. not right it makes the second books plot twist not work as well as it should. i should feel fucking devastated. i should have felt recovery empathy feelings for liz first love lost .. been coming back to life slowly from those feelings in the story.. so slowly that hayden was winning (us meaning Liz and the reader over) .. we should have had to feel like letting go of brady meant more then a summer fling. not forever.. but forever it could have been lost. because it was the wrong time wrong place. wrong person.. but right feelings..... which is a shame because it's such a good book idea. but it's execution. is incomplete. i think.. it wouldn't matter as much.. if she had did the work in the first book. since this is one of those super plot twist books. as the Fixed series [b:Fixed on You|22645855|Fixed on You|Laurelin Paige|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1415235922s/22645855.jpg|24941747] but it... still.
on a side note........ i love romance books that make an effort at love over time. even if it begins with hot and steamy that folks make an effort at over time. and slowness. i know it sounds corny. but. it's a harder book to write. but it's also .....normally results in a story where i care more about the outcome. (again had that first book been better i would have gave a damn about brady) and this would have matter more
so did i like the book it was readable. would i reread this book. yes on audiobook no on. normal book. im finding im having to push myself to read the next one on ebook. cos im so annoyed right now. that this author wasted such a good plot twist and i cant even care about it. cos no work was put into making me care. such a damn good idea for a book. such a fucking waste.
3.8 - gave it three stars cos i couldnt bring myself to round this up
the problem...
Spoiler
she built up the wrong guy. if your gonna build up a guy build the main guy as much as you build the side guy. otherwise. you lack connection. you have no where for the readers feelings to go. he's just a magic dick she had sex with and really really likes but otherwise feels like a "blank dick" i like hayden family more then i liked the guy his sister is cute and sweet and i knew more about her then i knew about brady and that's pretty fucking sad as an authorlawd. is what this book is. it's one long southern lawd... i think the twist. is really great. i loved the twist.

Another cliffhanger but that was known since this is a SERIES!!! K.A. Linde is not failing in making this series just as much of a hit as the first series I read of her (Avoiding) which was just as AMAZING!!! I totally recommend her books off of that series alone but this series is strengthening that recommendation as one of my FAVORITE authors!!

Liz is trying to put herself back together after she left Brady. Hayden is there to help her put the pieces of her life post-Brady back together with him. I kind of like that until he loses his damn mind!! I am torn between #TeamHayden and #TeamBrady for most of the book. In the end I am #TeamBrady as it should be!!Another cliffhanger but that was known since this is a SERIES!!! K.A. 2,5 hopeful stars ♥ ♥
First, i'm kinda disappointed with the first 50% of the book. It didn't made me scream, cry or even fall in love, it was just bland.

At the 51% mark,at least it made feel something but it didn't reach the good level that i'm used when i'm reading a K.A. Linde book.
In the end i felt something more intense from Brady but i don't feel like a know Liz or even relate to her. And i'm sad cause i was really rooting for this book. But i'm sure the next book will be my cup of tee. Fingers crossed!

Favorite Quote:
“Liz wasn’t sure why, but as the door slammed behind her, her thoughts strayed to Brady. He would have never belittled her career like that. In fact, he had always been interested in where her life was headed.”
In my review for book #1, I emphasized that one of my favorite parts of this story was the realistic aspect. In fact, when book #1 ended, one of my first thoughts was "Oh no, I hope the author doesn't have them get back together in chapter 1 of book #2, like I hope she at least waits until after the election." Thankfully, I didn't have to worry at all because like book #1, the story continues at a realistic, and unhurried pace. I love that at the end Liz herself acknowledges that even after over a year apart, things still felt like they were happening fast. Her character growth from book 1 to 2 has been so incredible to watch.
That being said, there were definitely a few parts in this book that I felt were fillers. Remember in New Moon how basically the entire first half of the book is Bella and Jacob and with every page turn you're just like "Ok this is nice, but when is Edward coming back?!" Yeah, it was kinda like that. Don't get me wrong though, I would much rather have that than a rushed reconciliation and surprise engagement.
Despite some of the slower parts, once again I was blown away at the writing and found myself even deeper intertwined with these characters. I seriously don't know what I'm going to do once I finish the series... I don't want it to end!!!

On The Record begins a few months after Off the Record ended. Liz left Brady so he wouldn't have to pick between her and his career. The only issue is she's miserable without him. She thinks he's happy, and she didn't really want to give Hayden a chance, but he keeps making plays for her. Liz doesn't think she's ready until she talks herself into it, and sees Brady with another girl who is apparently his girlfriend. That's when she decides to go ahead and try to move on since Brady seems to be moving on. However, Liz can't seem to get Brady off of her mind. And she's not sure she ever will.
This book was intense, but in a good way! It had me wanting to strangle the characters at times, and then just cry. I've also found a new character that I seriously hate! Hayden better be glad he's a fictional character in a book, other wise I would have to smack him around a whole lot. The things he did to Liz in the end were not very good in my opinion, and I can't believe what happened. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil it. On another note, I really liked Liz's best friend and roommate a whole lot now. She was super awesome especially when it came to Hayden!
I really liked this one, it was really good. The plot was more intense then the first one, and there was a ton of drama. But it wasn't as good as the first book, mainly because there wasn't enough Brady in it for my liking. However, I look forward to the next book! I think it's going to be awesome, and I'm super excited about it.
