Faking It With #41 is the third book in the new Hockey Hotties series. It can be read as a stand-alone but fair warning after you start reading it you will want to start at the beginning of the series and read them all! It was fast-paced, easy-to-read, and full of humor. I have been waiting for Ford’s book and was so excited to read it. It was just as amazing as I thought it would be. The sizzle between Ford and Lena could be felt from the beginning when we saw them in previous books.
Ford Jacob was the heir to Jacobs Enterprises and was a professional hockey player. He had no intentions of leaving hockey and taking over the family’s business. His father finally realizes it and decides to sell the majority of the shares and retire. But to do so he will need Ford to improve his reputation.
Lena Boyd was the Jacob family PR and had bailed Ford out of bad publicity too many times. Now she agrees to play the part of his fiancé and marry him, but she has no intentions of getting pulled in by his good looks and charisma. Can she believe he has changed his ways after becoming a single dad?
I loved this book. It was entertaining and I loved how Ford grew from the carefree man into a family man. Seeing how concerned and caring he was for his little girl was so sweet. I can’t wait for the next book.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ford and Lena were so good. Their banter, chemistry, and love for Annabelle... it was addictive. I'm actually a little ashamed by how quickly I read this book.

Drama? Some.
Tension? Heaps.
Laughs? A few
Steam? Some. But boy, did his dirty mouth make it worth it

For me, a sign of a good book is how much I think about the characters when I’m in the middle of reading the book, but life calls and I can’t sit down to get lost in said book.

But, mostly, a sign of a good book, in my humble opinion, is how it makes me feel. And, honestly, this one was a doozy. To be honest, I’d already cried twice by the time I got to chapter 23. lol

Our favorite guys and gals feature throughout the book without detracting from Ford and Lena’s story, and I love seeing Aiden and Maksim settle more into their new situations.

I won’t repeat the synopsis or spoil Ford and Lena’s story, but what I will say is it’s worth reading. Not just if you’re a Sports Romance fan, but if you love Romance in general. If you love cocky, straightforward men and the women who don’t take their shit. If you love people who once felt broken and find a way to begin healing. If you love family drama and finding ways to reconnect. And if you love lots and lots of steamy, spicy scenes.

10/10 would recommend

Faking with #41 is an enjoyable ice hockey read with some explicit spice. The storyline is predictable but I enjoyed the majority of the tropes and how they played out.

Ford is the classic arrogant, rich hockey player trying to prove his father wrong and has a slight chip on his shoulder. Lena is a likeable heroine but doesn't bring anything amazing to the table. She's very surface-level as a character. She didn't seem to have any firm opinions on anything and constantly had self-esteem issues. I was confused about how Ford didn't want Lena looking after Annabel all of a sudden when she was constantly involved in Annabel's care prior to the fake engagement.

I really wasn't keen on the mother coming back into the picture but only because of how the ending played out. I wanted the trope to play out a bit differently, instead, it was very quick to turn and left a bitter taste in my mouth because it rushed the story.

To say I have been anxiously awaiting Ford’s story. I simply adored him in the previous books. I knew he had a lot more heart then he let on! And playboys usually fall hard and fast for their one! Ford is a complicated guy. He gets a lot of pressure from his family to ditch hockey and join his family business, But Ford loves hockey, and he worked hard to get to the NHL and he doesn’t want to give it up. He also finds himself in the limelight for all of the wrong reasons, further prokovking his family. When Ford finds out a woman he had a one night stand with is pregnant the heat intensifies. In comes the PR rep for his family business, Lena. Lena is feisty and does not take crap from Ford. These two grate on each other's nerves, but there is definitely some underlying sexual tension. It is really amazing. Lena is a tough cookie because she has to be. Her life has not been easy and she works hard for everything she has earned. There are past hurts that are also holding her back from being all in and trusting. Ford, while initially unsure of how to be all in, jumped in head first. He fell hard and it made me giddy reading it! Ford shows us all his soft spots that he doesn’t let many see and it is clear that he thinks that his daughter hung the moon, along with Lena.
In true Piper Rayne fashion there is a lot of humor mixed in with all the deep feels in this book! I really love how Piper Rayne gave us a look back on previous characters and sneak peeks of those to come. If you are into hockey romances, great friend groups, funny banter then you will definitely fall in love with the Florida Fury! This has quickly become a must read series for me! I am looking forward to book #4 coming in March!
