It's so-so for me. Honestly, it felt like reading a child fairytale book with adult relationship inside or reading a very long wattpad story. It's entertaining, but just that. I'm a bit disappointed on how the conflict climax executed. But it is a good book. If not, I wouldn't bother reading it 'till the end. I love the plot and the concept. It's such a refreshing concept between the viral faeries concepts. I know my childhood would love and go crazy for this. Too bad I read it as an adult. I will read the sequels.

I loved the beginning of this book. However, I do not understand what happened near the end. There was so much potential, and I considered this at least a 4-star book until the final 2 days of the caraval and the day after it. After that, the book took a nose dive. It tried too hard to have an interesting twist by adding too many nonsensical twists. Like, an unnecessary amount of twist done not great. I really wanted to like this book by the end, but I just can't.

For a YA fantasy series, I really enjoyed it and wanted to continue the series asap! I loved how sinister and magical Caraval is, though I still have lots of questions about why. The ending gutted me and I really hated how everyone manipulated Scarlett and doesn’t see anything wrong with it. I wasn’t super convinced about the romance though. This book is a lot of vibes and pacing, not a fleshed out plot. But I am really intrigued for the next book, this book really sucked me in despite its flaws!

This book was a roller coaster. I don't think how so many people can say that the was an easy read. I mean language wise maybe but the plot had me head over heels, dropping new theories every few pages. It really has a psychotic tone to it and at some point you feel just as lost as Scarlet and have no idea what to believe anymore.
It was something else and I've never seen a plot like this so it's definitely worth a read!

“I think you’ve forgotten how to live, and your sister is trying to remind you.”

Good to be back to reading a fantasy book once again! I’ve gotten a copy of Once Upon A Broken Heart by the same author and was told that to get the full experience, I had to read this series again, so here I am.

To be honest, I started this book thinking it was just pure fantasy so I was somewhat surprise to see a little bit of romance in it - although it was a little falling in love too fast in my opinion. The caraval story was done alright but the ending was sort of anti-climactic. I don’t really have much to say other than, I’m surprised to see that the next book is not Scarlett’s POV since I was already heavily invested on her now so it’s sad to have another character’s point of view. But I do love Tella and I really hope and am excited to see her story with Legend!

Overall, it’s a good story but at the moment, not one I would immediately recommend to people. Maybe once I’ve read the next few books?

A random find, that absolutely came through for me.

The prose has its weaknesses (in German), but the synaesthetic descriptions were something different. I had a fun challenge trying tofigure out what was happening the wholeway through, as the revelations just kept coming.
