The worst plot twist ever

This book gave me all the feels!!! “Forbidden Hearts” by Corrine Michaels is going to be a top 5 for the year for me. She is a new to me author and this is the first book I’ve read of hers and now I feel like I need to go read her whole backlist.

This book follows Asher, Phoebe, and Olivia. Asher is the SWAT captain of their small town. Phoebe is the much younger daughter of her boss and knows ASL. Olivia is Asher’s daughter who has been deaf since birth and is the cutest character. Asher is stuck in a bind and has to hire Phoebe as Olivia’s nanny when she comes home from her grad school program early. They despise each other from a previous mishap while she watched Olivia, but Asher has no other choice. I’ll leave the rest spoiler free, you’ll just have to go read it for yourself.

Phoebe’s connection with Olivia is just so adorable. The way both Asher and Phoebe grow through the book is amazing. The plot twist is one I didn’t see coming!! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series when it comes out.

There was absolutely no reason for that plot twist…

I’m stuck in the 3 rating stage

I’m not a big fan of surprise pregnancy, and this is reflected in my rating.

I also found it slow moving and not all that captivating.

The writing was not my favorite, the main guy's character was..idk strange. He was supposed to be grumpy but he just wasn't...I didn't feel the chemistry between them that much, it was cringy sometimes, and oh god that trope near the end...didn't like it. It wasn't a terrible book, it went quite fast, but I definitely read better books with the same concept.

These two were total opposites but yet the chemistry was fire!!! Asher knew Phoebe since she was younger but never looked her at romantically because of their age difference. Phoebe always had a crush on Asher the hot cop. When she was hired for the summer to be his daughter’s nanny they butthead so many times but it was the buildup to an explosive relationship. It was an instalove and their constant bickering just added to the appeal of watching their relationship grow. When it was inevitable they gave in but with lots of conscience because of who they were and what was at stake. But then there was a twist that I didn’t expect and then that twist had another twist that somehow included Asher’s past and it was mind blowing. That solidified their relationship and showed how strong together they were. The secondary characters were great and some known mentions also ❤️
