Phoebe returns home to her small town after leaving college after an embarrassing and life altering incident. When her father the police Sheriff offers her to be the nanny of a fellow officers daughter, she has little to no choice.
Asher is in need of a nanny for his 9 year old daughter Olivia. Olivia is deaf and needs someone who speaks ASL as that’s her only form of communication.
When the agency’s nanny falls through he has little options but to accept Phoebes offer to take the job. While he doesn’t trust her and doesn’t really like her, as she is the only one who speaks ASL he’s stuck with her.
While the attraction between Asher & Phoebe becomes to great for them to dismiss they agree to be together,be each others secret until she goes back to school. When it becomes clear they have feelings for each other they have to make a choice, when the past comes crashing into their present there are decisions that need to be made.

I really liked this book, the MMC Asher is one of the great male leads. He protects his family and the ones he loves with a passion. He is grumpy and a perpetual bachelor to everyone else but to Phoebe he is her marshmallow.

Read this in one sitting, loved it! I’m such a sucker for single dads and ugh the dynamic between these two was so beautiful to watch. I fell in love with this town and all the characters in it. I’m so excited to see where this series takes us!

Forbidden Hearts is the first book in a new series that will feature the Whitlock family in Sugarloaf. This story is a masterful tale of two people finding exactly what they need in the totally wrong person at the worst possible time. I usually read books at a pretty fast pace, but I had to take my time with this one and truly savor it. I don’t even want to give my usual description for background. I’ll let you look up the blurb, if you wish, but please read this book! Experience it as it comes! I laughed, I cried, I blushed, and my heart melted for Asher, Phoebe, and especially little Olivia!! Everything I’ve come to love about a Corinne Michaels story was there plus a twist that I didn’t see coming!! The world building and character development were the best I’ve seen in quite awhile! This book is setting the bar high for my summer reads! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could! Bring on more Whitlocks!!!

I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have to say that this book did manage to surprise me.

❗️SPOILERS❗️
I did not expect Johnathon to be the man who assaulted Brynn. The climax was intense. I mean i didn’t expect Phoebe to keep the baby knowing whose it was.

Also it was interesting to see her change her plans to finish grad school.

Asher was very supportive of Phoebe.

Perfect summery pool read

This was good.
Very similar to Elsie Silver's series in terms of tropes and small town vibes.

I docked off a star because the third act was a bit too dramatic for my liking and the book dragged on for longer than what it should have.
