Single dad and nanny/age gap romance but with just enough extra plot and surprises (and spice!) to keep it fresh and thoroughly enjoyable! That particular trope can get stale but Forbidden Hearts didn’t feel that way at all. I generally enjoy Corinne Michaels books and this one was no different and as a bonus had some really fun dialogue and I loved Asher as the male main character ! The ending had a bit of a twist that I didn’t expect and thought I would dislike but the characters reactions to it made it all the more believable and refreshing.
Tropes- single dad, nanny romance, age gap, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance.

gosh this book was adorable. it’s an age gap, single dad, nanny romance which are all some of my favourite tropes so i knew i would enjoy this. i’ll definitely be reading the rest of the books in the series once they’re released
How did I make it through 42% of the book and still not care about the characters?? Like, here’s the thing. In a forbidden love/ age gap romance, there’s always some “oh we can’t act on our feelings, it’s so wrong.” But my goodness, this man can’t make up his mind. Will he or won’t he?? Just not the right time. Might try again later.
This was my first book by Corinne Michaels and a huge thank you to her! She reached out to see if I’d be interested in reading this as an ARC, and oooooof, hi small towns!
This follows Asher and Phoebe, where she’s the nanny for a single dad with a deaf daughter. There’s a decent size age gap, small town, he’s a sheriff for their town AND works with her dad, and it gets pretty steamy. You’ll find a lot of those forbidden vibes, and forced proximity since she lives in his house a good chunk of the time.
Phoebe’s back home to escape some trauma she endured while working on her master’s degree. Being that she specializes in ASL and has the background that Asher’s looking for in a nanny at the last minute, her father signs her up and because Asher has no other choice, boom - it’s fated.
Phoebe’s age definitely does show more than anything. I had some moments where I just wanted to shake her some. But I like the way that Corinne had a FMC that wasn’t focused just on the MMC and their romance. Instead, she knows what she wants in her career and she’s taking strides necessary to get herself there and I loved that.

don’t love a romance with an unexpected pregnancy, but it’s still not in the way you’d expect.

Corinne always knows how to write a couple that just sucks you in and pulls at your heart strings. Asher and Phoebe came together after they couldn’t deny their attraction any longer despite him being a major grumpy asshole to her sunshiney sass. They were forbidden in more ways than one: She was the only nanny for his deaf daughter and she was his boss’ daughter. Phoebe was just home for the summer from college, trying to figure out her path and Asher is a single dad co-raising his daughter but not opening his heart to anyone. Phoebe changed all of that for him. She fit seamlessly into their lives. Asher would set the world on fire for her, and boy did he! The spice in this is great! And boy did they have some fun together.
