This book frustrates me endlessly. A promising premise that I was excited to read ultimately fell short due to a series of miscommunications and inadequate mental health resources. Having the main character have a life coach, whom she tracks down and follows, is not only problematic but odd. Sybil Rain was a main character who just did not keep my attention. I did not like any of the characters, and this book just made me mad. The characters acted far too young for their age! Like, y'all are almost 30 and we're acting like this? Also, some parts of this book just took me out (specifically Nikki's character from "Loveby" going back into the franchise - very self - inserty). I wish we spent more time really understanding more of why Sybil felt like she had to run away all the time, but it feels like its's explanation is in one chapter. The narrator did a good job and really immersed you in the book; it was the plot itself that was struggling. The writing style is good, but the plot lacks.

♡ Thank you @hachette.audio @librofm for the complimentary audiobook.

If you like guilty pleasures, this will scratch the itch.

FMC Sybil’s personality channels Hannah Brown (yes that one, the former bachelorette): bubbly + warm, impetuous + outspoken, and a bit of a train wreck 😝.

I kinda liked Sebastian as much as the male lead character… Team Seb and Syb 😜

Totally predicable, it feels familiar, like it’s been done before — a solid feel good romance/beach read.

I went into The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain without realizing it was the second book in a series. I haven’t read Mistakes We Never Made—the first book—but that turned out not to be an issue at all. This story stands on its own and was easy to follow, which I really appreciated.

The plot follows Sybil through a string of almost-weddings, and while the premise might sound a little wild, Hannah Brown gives it both humor and heart. The story explores identity, self-worth, and how we define love—wrapped in a chaotic but fun romantic journey.

Cherami Leigh’s narration was one of the highlights for me. She perfectly captured Sybil’s personality and brought out the emotional ups and downs in a really natural way. Her pacing, tone shifts, and delivery made the story easy to follow and more enjoyable overall. I could easily picture the story unfolding just through the way she told it.

Even though I didn’t read the first book, I never felt lost. If anything, it made me curious to go back and read it. If you enjoy character-driven romcoms with a bit of chaos and great narration, this one is worth the listen.
