3.5/5 stars! I enjoyed this very much! A classic murder mystery but based on history. I remember seeing this book back in highschool but never go the chance to read it until now.

It's pretty gory, a fair warn, and some disturbing pictures are featured in the book, but if you're into murder mysteries, I highly recommend the story!

I loved our two MCs together. They're so stinking cute. The book also did a great job at not being too obvious as to who the murderer was. The reveal and ending was a bit too quick for me, and kinda off-putting. I wasn't totally satisfied by the ending.

But all in all, good read!

Even though I really enjoyed the book (and loved the characters) I kind of expected more from a book everyone was raving about on booktwt (only disappointed by my own expectations, not by the book itself).

Wow.... that was wow... I am stunned.damnit now I have another author to follow. The characters are 4d with hidden depths and emotions bubbling to the surface ( like everyday) and just the rich detail that has gone into getting the setting right and atmosphere it's almost like travelling back to that seedy and terror filled life. Just brilliant looking forward to the next book in the series

I love alternate endings or different theories to historical moments- and this book does just that. Now will I add this to my list of 'whodunnit' for the Jack the Ripper case? No, I will not. BUT! It was the details in this book, the storyline, and the emotions that the writer applies to the pages that made me pause and think... 'It COULD have gone down like this.'

It was so good in fact, that halfway through I went ahead and found some more of her books to read.

If you want romance, history, and mystery- Kerri Maniscalco is the way to go!
