I found it a little difficult to organize my thoughts on this book, but here goes nothing: I thought Comer made some great points. A lot of this book felt pretty basic, in the sense that a lot of his ideas on God’s design for love, sex, and romance are foundational, but don’t go very far past the surface. I did find his thoughts on sexuality in the Church very interesting, especially with his experience as a pastor in Portland! He had a lot of wisdom and insight that was very beneficial to a Christian audience and those in ministry. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I think some of his other works are better if I’m being honest!

I picked up Loveology because a good friend of mine said I should. Now I am saying that this is a book every person should read (single, married, whatever) who has even the smallest wondering of what God might have to say about love and relationships. It lit something inside of me.
John Mark Comer starts at love and then works "backwards" from marriage to sex to romance to just being human. I read it in a weekend because I just couldn't stop. I would recommend this as a must read for everyone and I expect I will come back to it over and over.

Nothing revolutionary but an enjoyable read. Found it encouraging and am looking forward to read more by John Mark Comer.

JMC has distilled an enormous theological topic into accessible, impactful prose. I appreciate the way he brings both clarity and grace to an often stale topic. Not my favorite from his library, but I'm glad I gave it a read.

An accessible survey of the Biblical perspective on romantic love. Some sections read as a bit dated - particularly the chapter that conflates gender and sex characteristics, with no nod to trans folks. I suspect if JMC were to write this book today some of the language around this would be more inclusive.

His approach and his writing are excellent. As good as anything that’s been done on this subject. Biblically lays out God’s pattern throughout Scripture and lovingly inspires the reader to follow it.

Practical, considerate to people from all backgrounds, and yet strongly rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

LOVE-OLOGY BY JOHN MARK COMER IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BOOK. JMC DOES SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB PAINTING A PICTURE, NOT JUST OF WHAT MARRIAGE OUGHT TO BE, BUT OF WHAT MARRIAGE HAS THE WONDERFUL ABILITY OF BEING. MARRIAGE TRULY IS A WONDERFUL GIFT GIVEN TO US BY GOD.

NOW, I AM NOT SOMEONE WHO OFTEN RECOMMENDS CHRISTIAN "DATING BOOKS", BUT TO ALL MY NON-MARRIED FRIENDS, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK. I HAVE LEARNED MORE ABOUT LOVE/MARRIAGE/ROMANCE/ETC. FROM THIS BOOK THAN ANY OTHER BOOK I'VE READ. BECAUSE, LEARNING ABOUT WHAT MARRIAGE IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE RETROACTIVELY TEACHES US WHAT HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS WILL LOOK LIKE AS WELL.

This was really well done. It hit a lot of really great notes and addressed a lot of great things. Honestly, I had a great time reading this.

Every 20 something preparing for a relationship needs to read this book. Sometimes you just need to hear the hard won lessons of someone you don’t know - ya know all the dating, marriage and sex advice that you’d rather not talk about with anyone in your church

Overall I think this is a helpful book with a few wrinkles here and there. I still think Keller’s marriage book is better overall, but this has a much more light hearted feel. The Q&A from the Loveology sessions that are in the back of the book were also a nice add.
