I was delighted to find this new author. The story captured me immediately and kept me reading through all 3 books plus his spin-off and other series.

This was a pretty good read. Took me a while to read through no fault of the book. Just life getting in the way. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. The story is interesting enough not to drag though the book seems lengthy at times.

The deacon trilogy is really well written and the characters are described well.

Well...

What can I say? I simply adored this book. It was both simple, and complex, and I loved it.

Review for Kindle version:

A nice read, but wasn't that amazing. Didn't like the author's writing style found many technical errors, and even line editing needs works. Main character was boring and unrealistic. She's "unbalanced" in the sense that she's powerful as a mage and knows how to fight. I think it's because the author's a dude, he made this girl to please the female readers out there, but he failed to deliver. There were many instances where the MC could've showed weakness, or even some femininity without betraying herself, but the author just doesn't know the mind of a female, 'cause he ain't one to begin with. Sabriel worked, but this book didn't. For some reason this book felt like a weird mash-up of Amulet (graphic novel), Wizard101, and some other minor YA fantasy novel I read that wasn't good enough for me to remember its name.

This book was Free on Amazon, and had a ridiculous number of good reviews.
It was a fantasy book, which is what I was looking for.

This book surprised me... I was expecting a cheezy or boring story, but wow was I wrong.

The characters are so well done... they develop more as the story goes on, and are actually quite astounding by the end of the book, what with plot twists and unexpected elements that come into play.
The descriptions of pretty much every aspect of the story were so vivid, I had no issues picturing the setting.

The book reminds me of Eragon, and the rest of the inheritance trilogy.
I started reading them, and was completely addicted... Being left wanting more and more.

I gave 4 Stars, as it comes very close to being one of my favorite books.
5 stars of course being my favorites.
I debated on giving it 3, because of the very slow buildup at the start of the book. I was quite ready to stop reading until the character, Leo, appears.

Great read, and will soon be reading book 2!
Highly Recommend.

No strong feelings in particular about this book. I can’t say I really fell for any of the characters, maybe Myn and Deacon a lil bit but then only just a lil bit. The world is interesting but the plot is also interesting. I think I might pick up the second to see where it goes just because I don’t hate it and I don’t mind doing that.

I’m more like to go on with series just because of worlds and familiar characters.

Originally DNFd because of extremely large TBR.
I had too many books I was currently reading so I am closing them all and going to retackle them one by one.
Will restart in the future.

This book took me a long time to get into. You sorta start after the story starts. Bad things happen to the main character and you really don't care about her yet and you have no idea why they are happening (and neither does she). After about 25% through, the story picks up and you start caring about the main character and get introduced to characters that actually care about the main character as well.

It was a free Kindle book. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Once you plow through the beginning, it's fine. I'm glad I didn't pay for it, though.
