I'm enjoying these earlier books much more. The writing is so much better and the characters in the Camel Club are enjoyable, although Milton seemed to have lost his OCD in this one. I was kept interested in the parallel stories going on from the start, not seeing how the characters would cross, but the way they did worked well. The good prevail and get justice with a nice set up for the next book in the series.

Pretty good. I found the con part very interesting and compelling, the murder mystery in this one less so. I look forward to the next book in the series which is going to dive deeper into the con story.

I'm a big fan of Baldacci's Camel Club Series and this second in the series may be my favorite so far although I've read only 3 accidentally starting with the 3rd book in the series. I've just now read the 1st two books and may have to revisit Stone Cold again just for continuity purposes. The Collectors and both clever and exciting blending two seemingly unconnected storylines which come together in a nice surprise adding to the overall impact of the novel. Maybe a 4.5 rating would be fairer. Always room for improvement although I personally have no idea how the author could have made it any better. The point is that liking enough to want to re-read the 3rd novel again says a lot for the entertainment quality. Recommended.
Love all the Camel Club books. Another good one here. Recommended
Some collect rare books, some collect souvenirs of their victims, I collect model cars
This is the second novel about the Camel Club, I haven’t read the first and though it may flesh out the characters more, it is not necessary to read the previous book to enjoy this one. The Camel Club is a group of four civilian sleuthing misfits led by “Oliver Stone” a former CIA assassin.
The story starts with the death of a librarian in the Rare Books Room of the Library of Congress, seemingly the victim of a heart attack, his colleague Caleb of the Camel Club isn’t so sure. The US Speaker of the House is assassinated and the Camel Club think there could be a connection.
As the body count rises (I didn’t keep a tally, Emma!) the team are joined by Annabelle Conroy, a con artist fresh from an ingenious con in Atlantic City, who brings a charismatic new dimension to the team.
The book is a page turner, I haven’t read the first book of the series but I’ll be looking out for the third (“Stone Cold”).
Whether they realized it or not, everyone was a collector of some sort. A lot of people migrated to the ordinary end of the spectrum, collecting stamps, coins and books. Then there were those who accumulated broken hearts or sexual conquests. … at the far end of the continuum, Roger Seagraves collected personal items from people he’d murdered…
