This might be my favorite volume thus far. There's a lot about art in here, but also deeper discussions about gender, identity, and the future. There are definitely some emotional moments towards the end of the volume, and I'm interested in seeing where it goes next.
Graphic: Suicidal thoughts and Transphobia
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Homophobia, and Deadnaming
Minor: Medical content

I’ve given the previous volumes of this series high ratings but this is the first I’ve given a full 5. I really appreciated the update on Kuwana-san’s friend who’d collapsed during the exam and the support that was shown in regards to that friend’s choice of path. I just really loved the expression of that just because you choose a different path (for whatever reason) that doesn’t mean your fight/battles are any less valid.
The raw conversation between Yotara and Ryuji while painting their nude self-portraits really struck a note with me (as it did with many of us), especially the bit about “creating and performing a character so others can understand you”.
