The chapter that focuses on the author's specialty is interesting but what come before is overly simple and after is largely well worn platitudes.

A good introduction to biology, but little new information for anyone who's taken a biology class before. While Nurse has accomplished a lot of impressive things, the perspective in this book did not feel particularly innovative or novel to me, although "life as chemistry" and "life as information" were a bit more interesting than other chapters.
