The Elliots make the Bennet family look downright SENSIBLE. I laughed for two days thinking about Sir Walter objecting to sailors because, essentially, they’re ugly??? Anne is the shining exception. I love love loved Admiral and Mrs. Croft. I smiled every time they had dialogue. I very nearly melted when I finally got to Frederick’s confession. Overall a very lovely read.

A short dive into the politics of love in the 1800s. Jane develops Anne’s character very gently and cleverly through her actions rather than her words. The book picks up pace in the last 5 chapters as all of the persuasion thus far reaches a turning point for the main characters. The ending is sweet and offers enough resolution for the characters we care about.
This is the 3rd Jane Austen book I have had the pleasure of reading. Every page of this novel is agonizingly heart squeezing. I absolutely love Jane's ability to make you heart yearn along with Anne throughout.. The way Jane built tension without very much interaction between the two lovers was remarkable, and kept me in my car long after I had arrived at my destination (I listen on my commutes)
Jane has an amazing a talent for creating such character complexity in a way that is so rare in novels today, it's almost as if characters are built between the lines of a story instead of spelt out for you right on the page. I cannot wait to read the rest of her books, but I am not sure this one will be topped.
There is something so special, beautiful, and melancholic about this novel that really speaks to Jane's maturity at the time she wrote this.
Adding this one to my favourites, a must read for any Austen fan and anyone who loves A LOT (like, i mean heeps) OF YEARNING.

Half-paid attention to the audiobook version, and for some reason I really focused on the child who was run over by the carriage, oops. Will need to revisit
I listened to the audiobook while I was doing some cross-stitch. That's the kind of rock 'n' roll lifestyle I lead.
Do you need a review from me? It's Jane Austen. You know what you're getting.

Easy to read, a thoughtful and likable heroine, and such good dialogue made this my favorite Austen (out of the three I’ve read so far). The confession?!????? Screaming crying throwing up Captain Wentworth my beloved
