4.5-5⭐️

Creó que las novelas de Austen nunca fallan , pero necesito leer el resto de sus novelas me encantaría para hacer una comparativa , pero definitivamente la manera de escribir de esta mujer es sentir que vives en su época! Dice mucho de su contexto con sus libros

My first ever Jane Austen read and it was so worth it. The way love and longing are so perfectly captured throughout the story. Anne presents herself as a woman, who at 27, has lost all her young confidence and yet blossoms again when she encounters Captain Wentworth all those years later. I was giddy at them simply looking at each other. Ouh and the letter!!!!! The most love filled confession in literary history!!

THIS IS THE YEARNING I NEED!

Worth the read simply because it's by Jane Austen, but I didn't enjoy it as much as Pride and Prejudice.

I loved the comical descriptions of Anne's immediate family - her vain and frivolous father and eldest sister. Her always ill and constantly needy younger sister.

Alas, there were too many other characters to keep track of and it was a bit boring.

I'm slowly making my way through Jane Austen's books, and this is my fourth of hers. While it is not a favourite, I imagine that on a re-read I will love this one even more. It has the potential to grow on me, I think.

That being said, I still really enjoyed this one. I loved Anne, and really identified with her. I loved her insight and her way of wanting to feel useful to those around her. I also loved all those awkward little moments with Captain Wentworth, where each were wondering if the other still liked them or not.

The characters in this are very well written, each with their own personality and motivations. I love Jane Austen's writing, and straight away I could tell that it would be another one that I enjoyed, even after just a few chapters. There's something in these books that just captivates me.

I'm so glad I read this one.

"What! Would I be turned back from doing a thing that I had determined to do, and that I knew to be right, by the airs and interference of such a person, or of any person, I may say? No, I have no idea of being so easily persuaded. When I have made up my mind, I have made it."
