What a strange book!

I liked this one, but I was not expecting the plot that I got.
The Island of Doctor Moreau is a mixture of sci-fi and horror elements that worked well together.

Dr. Moreau is a doctor and scientist living on an island in the Pacific Ocean. The book is told in the first person by Edward Prendick who becomes shipwrecked and then gets picked up by Moreau’s second in command, Dr. Montgomery.

Dr. Montgomery is picking up supplies and a live puma for Dr. Moreau. He comes across the shipwrecked Prendick and has no choice but to bring him back to the secluded island. Prendick meets the mysterious and quirky Dr. Moreau and finds out the island is much more horrifying and strange than he was expecting.

The Island of Doctor Moreau did not end the way that I thought it would, but I loved how it all plays out with our main characters and the events on the island.
It felt a bit like The Island of the Misfit Toys if this gives you any clue to the strangeness of the plot.

I’m glad to get to this classic! This is the first H.G. Wells book that I’ve read, and I plan to read more of his work.
He was very original and creative with this plot and I can see how Wells influenced so many authors over the years!

not a huge fan of his writing style but can you imagine reading this shit back then?? crazy.
