Same person different font kind of vibe
Feels a bit like a Douglas Adams book, done by someone trying to impersonate Douglas Adams...

Not too bad but certainly nothing amazing. It’s a shame Adams didn’t flesh this out as originally intended since it was his idea. It could have been pretty incredible like the Hitchhiker series, and kudos to Jones for scratching it out at the last moment to work with the then contemporary video game, but the short production time shows; it ends up being just okay. The part with the sentient bomb was on the right track; however, that ended up being the most redeeming quality of the entire novel.
adventurous funny lighthearted medium-paced

Part Adams, part Monty Python, and all around ridiculously absurd fun space adventure. Nothing too serious or deep, and as other reviewers have pointed out, not the quality of HHGTTG or Dirk Gently. But it was a fun, quick read. And there's a parrot.

Typical Adams. On the weak side, though. Just not as wacky as HHGG or Dirk Gently. The characters were pretty good, though I don't remember his other books' characters that well.

Well, I just found that this was only "thought up" by Adams. Apparently, Jones wrote this, while Adams worked on the video game this was based off of. Maybe that's why it wasn't as funny as most of his other stuff.
