☁️ I could not put down this series. The characters are very well written and I usually get annoyed at side plots but this author does a great job making the plot move forward with their addition. The plot could easily be plucked from real world events and how authoritarian movements rise to power. I gave it 4 stars for how much I was able to get into it. I do struggle with the love story between the FMC and MMC. I prefer one of the other love interests. It’s a great book and I highly recommend!

this book is the calm before the bigger storm. its all the best parts of the first book, just expanded upon.

there is a yule ball, stunning-gown-that's-a-bit-scandalous scene, political intrigue, rebellion plots, a love triangle?, star-crossed lovers, spies, an only-one-bed scene, twists and reveals, prison break, and dragons.

I LOVED the end of the first book (The Black Witch), so I read this book fairly quickly. It uses a lot of fantasy tropes, but I don't mind because they're fun and the book is so long, how could it not?? It doesn't focus much on the day to day, it very smoothly skips the mundane in favor of jumping to the action. I forget I'm even reading first POV, the descriptions are very well done. I already bought the third book.

I LOVED it! So much happens in this book. I cried multiple times. I love the character developments in this book. Off to start the next book.
