Having been stuck in a similar working relationship as Carey had with the Tripps, I could understand how she stayed and continued to give far more of herself than she should. I was happy to see the authors were understanding, showing the difficult push-pull of toxic working families.
On the other hand, the romance was sweet and supportive, mostly uncomplicated except for the book tour from hell they find themselves on. James was a true gem.
A difficult read, but a satisfying one.

I didn’t expect that I’d finish this book in two days, but I adored it! The mix of the HGTV couple, along with the drama their not-so-perfect marriage, and the protagonists’ goal of keeping the scandals from getting to public made this such a fun read. The story itself was incredibly easy to get lost in and the romance itself was incredibly realistic. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick read!
I was excited when I remembered I had yet to read this book and although I did enjoy some parts of it, it really felt like it was lacking in comparison to Christina Lauren’s other books. There were times when I laughed a lot at a certain scene but in all honesty, the romance between the two main characters had no spark from my point of view and I couldn’t find the fact that they were in love that convincing. I do look forward to Christina Lauren’s next book however and hopefully I’ll love it as much as I adore Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating which is one of my top 4 favourite romance books ever

Fun distracting rom com romp!
As usual, Christina Lauren delivers a book that sucks you in and takes you on a ride in the universe she creates. This was a talk fun one, with loads of funny dialogue and situations throughout. Definitely the kind of book I needed right now!

I have always found Christina Lauren's books to be hit or miss. Not for me. But I'm thrilled to say that The Honey-Don't List is another hit. I thought this book was adorable! It was funny, there was tangible chemistry between the two leads, and I loved the design/construct HGTV couple set-up. James is just my type (wears suits and glasses? SWOON). Carey (sidenote: I love that name) was charming, and it was a joy to see her grow. I admired how her dystonia was a regular part of the plot. It certainly added complexity to her relationship with the Tripps. Speaking of them, I actually loved both Melly and Rusty. I thought Melly was such a compelling character. She clearly wasn't so tyrannical from the start, so it was a thrill to dive into why she behaves that way now. I definitely recommend this romance!
Best quotes:
"I want to make her life better by being the best thing in it."
“'We’re the top trend!' Melly shouts, dropping into James’s vacant seat. 'Take that, Joanna Gaines.'”
"So this is what it feels like to be with someone who wants to give simply for the pleasure of it."

This book was not one of my favorites. I have liked other ones better.
