As per usual, Christina and Lauren have managed to start with an interesting concept and flip it into something, well over the top and tedious.
Maybe I’m just the problem but I wouldn’t have taken James back and I certainly wouldn’t stick it out working for an awful family like that. Also like girl if you feel like you need to talk about your NDA for your job in therapy for it being an abusive environment, that feels like a sign to quit. Overall, infuriating.
4-1/2 stars. This book was just the happy romance I needed for winter/quarantine! I enjoyed the plot and characters, and would definitely recommend! Carey and James are great main characters as their stories have depth, they are likeable but not perfect, and they make a fantastic romantic couple. Although I felt like they developed romantic feelings too suddenly and it wasn’t quite believable (James went from “who is Carey?” to “she is so sexy and I am deeply in like with her), I enjoyed their romance once it started going and their feelings and actions were definitely believable from then on! The book ending on a romantic / emotional high was one of my favorite parts as it wrapped up the story without leaving me like
I read this book in under 24 hours, which is rare for me, so I will say it's fun and entertaining. Like most contemporary romance, it was predictable and a bit cheesy, but what do you expect? Nothing earth-shattering but fun enough. The ending did seem a little anti-climactic, IMO.
Interesting storyline I thought could be based on an influencer I follow, but the love story was lacking to me.
Not as good as some of her other books. I couldn't get invested in the characters.
This book follows Carey and James who work for design power couple Melissa and Rusty Tripp. Carey has been working for them for 10 years and James is an engineer who has been with them for 2 months. On the outside the Tripps look like they have the perfect marriage but behind closed doors their perfectly crafted image is falling apart. Carey and James can't stand each other but are forced to spend a lot of time together when they have to go on a book tour with the Tripps to keep their public image intact.
Like any Christian Lauren book this was highly anticipated. It was an enjoyable read. It's a solid story, with two main characters you will fall in love with and a well thought out storyline. This book is told in both Carey and James' perspective. It's interesting to see their take on the events that take place and it's great that we get to see what each of them are thinking about the other. Their romance is so sweet and genuine. Their romance alone deserves 5 stars. There's also a little bit of a mystery that pieces itself together as the story goes on.
I really liked that Carey sees a therapist regularly and that this books explores focal dystonia. I would have loved to see more of Annabeth and Peyton cause they seemed really cool.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.

I also loved that James was the one to fall in love first.I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.
Magnolia meets Flip or Flop in this crazy rom com! I enjoyed seeing the characters reveal themselves and the way the plot unfolded!
3.5 stars! I really liked this book, I thought it was a unique story and I felt attached to the characters right away. I enjoyed the plot and the writing did an amazing job painting the picture as I could vividly see everything in my head. I loved the couple and the way they slowly came together. I went into this book with no previous knowledge about what it was about and I was not disappointed!
