Special thanks to Christina Lauren, Gallery Books & NetGalley for providing our copy in exchange for an honest & fair review.
As much as it pains me to write this review, this was not my favorite Christina Lauren. The premise is super cute, lots of Joanna & Chip Gaines vibes. I love tabloid drama & I thought oooh, what a great opportunity to poke some fun at the shiplap gods and throw in a steamy love story.

Here is what may work for you: lighter on romance (like very light) kooky & goofy characters (I'm looking at you Rusty & Melissa) shared space/close proximity (tour bus for a book tour) it's a quick read.
Here's what didn't work for me: I didn't buy the enemies to lovers romance. I had a hard time rooting for either character. Rusty & Melissa were a hot mess a bit too over the top for me.
THE VERDICT
This one just didn't work that well for me. The truth remains, I will read anything by Christina Lauren! They are a fabulous duo & their books usually have me laughing and entertained throughout.
I wasn't a big fan of The Unhoneymooners. So, maybe if you like that one, The Honey Don't List will be right up your alley.

I think this got a bonus star because the last book I read was such a chore. Sweet romance. Carey and James were likable enough. Melly and Rusty were as annoying as they were supposed to be. And the ending was as tidy as you’d expect.
This tells the story of two assistants for reality show stars (think HGTV). It's a dual perspective from Carey (the wife's assistant) and James (the husband's assistant) as they are forced to go on tour with the seemingly perfect couple who is actually constantly arguing behind closed doors.
The characters are unique, the book has decent pacing, and I overall really liked the plot and romance. The first half was a bit boring at times, but I couldn't put the second half down!
I didn't like this book as much as The Unhoneymooners, which was one of my favourite books of 2019 and gave me all the feels. This one was still a lot of fun, but I wasn't as connected to the story as much as I would have liked. I think my main issue is that the book was too short.
Overall, my rating is 3.5/5 rounded up because I did overall enjoy the book, there were just a couple of issues that I had with it.

Started off pretty slow, definitely picked up by the end. Kind of disappointed by this book tbh

not my favorite of theirs but this was so sweetly and quietly tender !

Read sometime during COVID leave. I liked this one! Appreciated the send up of HGTV power couples.
Listen. I love a predictable romance. And I LOVE Christina Lauren books. But this wasn’t my fav.
They went from hating each other one page, to literally pinging over each other the next. Usually I don’t nitpick but Christina Lauren has written better.
It was still a good read, just not my fav

I liked the concept of this book. And I loved Carey and James. They have a great chemistry. Even though they never gave each other the time of day before, once they are forced to work more closely together, they quickly discover how much they enjoy each other’s company. They learn to appreciate what the other can do, and their dislike swiftly turns into attraction. The only thing I wished I got in this story was more Carey and James! The story revolved mainly around the Tripps…. mostly Melissa, whom I could not stand at all. Her character is pretty mean, and she didn’t get much better as the story went on. It would have been great to see the Tripps take a bit of a backseat to Carey and James.
The Honey-Don’t List is more of a contemporary romance than a rom-com to me, but it was an enjoyable and easy read...great for the upcoming holiday weekend.
RATING: 3½ OUT OF 5.
