Fluffy and fun, but I felt VERY uncomfortable with the feeling that I was reading a tell-all about the famous couple who’s last name rhymes with feigns. (I know this is fictional, but it felt creepily real.)

Mel and Rusty Tripp are the literary equivalent of Chip and Joanna Gaines, but the perfect facade that the Tripps put on is hiding a deteriorating marriage on the verge of collapse. Unfortunately, now is the worst possible time for things to be falling apart. Fresh off the release of their new Netflix show and book about marriage, the Tripps are poised to become a household name. This means that any fighting on their upcoming book tour would be a disaster.

To keep them in check, Mel and Rusty's long-suffering assistants Carey Douglas and James McCann are forced to join the tour. Carey has been with the Tripps for ten years but must stand by while her work goes unacknowledged. James recently joined the company as an engineer but is treated like a glorified babysitter. Regardless, they both have their reasons for staying and want to ensure the tour goes smoothly. As Carey and James spend more and more time together, sparks begin to fly, feelings begin to grow, and they realize their relationship has the potential to be more than just a fling. . .if they survive their bosses.

This is the perfect feel-good rom-com. The audiobook is short and sweet with spot-on narrators Patti Murin and Jon Root. If you are in the mood for a romance, you won't regret giving this one a read.

I loved this one and I don’t love romances, WHO AM I?! Maybe Coronavirus has turned me into a romance reader. I was sucked into the drama of Russ and Melly’s on-air perfect marriage but behind the scenes disaster. Then I was hooked on James and Carey’s indifference-to-lovers plotline. (Side note- is that a trope? I’m new at this!) Basically, come for the drama, stay for the love story.

Fun enough and with a plot that kept moving forward.

I don’t read much romance but this was a fun quick audiobook to pass the time. I do wish it would have focused less on the hgtv couple so we could zoom in and spend more time with the actual main characters.

The dishonest heroes in these authors' books are just not for me. There were some cute moments but overall this story didn't work.

Completely demolished this

I picked this book up near Valentine's because I wanted a romance to read in the month long love fest that is February and this one had a big red heart on the cover and it was written by Christina Lauren, who wrote The Unhoneymooners which is one of the absolute best romantic comedies I've ever read in my life. And I've read a lot of books.

Yeah, so, I was underwhelmed. It was perfectly... readable. There were pretty well rounded characters, there was a decent plot and even a subplot, there was a funny premise but... it just fell flat and a book I could probably have consumed in a day or two if I had been enjoying it took me weeks.

Yawn

I love Christina Lauren’s books so much, but this was not my favorite. I felt like there were two main storylines and only one really resolved. Fine, and still fun, but not the same magic as some of their other works!
