I am very easy to please especially when it comes to my romance books but this one gave me the ick!
I wanted to dnf so bad but I kept reading because I wasted my money on this š
My main issue is the way this was written, overdramatic inner and outer monologue, it was driving me insane š It was like reading bad poetry, everything was just so over the top for absolutely no reason! Safe to say Iām not a fan of overly flowery writing š¤·š¾āāļø When the writing got to be too much, I honestly started skimming the non important parts because it was becoming a waste of time.
The amount of times I rolled my eyes while reading this, my eyeās shouldāve fell out my head š
The whole book the characters are like we shouldnāt want each other but how right it feels, how the MMC is a bad person, how they are both torn about whether they should be together, etc. Their ramblings was working my last nerves.
Also the way she wrote the kid in here felt very unrealistic, the kids usually donāt irritate me in books but unfortunately this one did.
Another thing for this book to be as long as was, why was it kind of giving insta love, this book was over 400 pages, should have had a way better build up than it did. And this book did not have to be as long as it, it felt like it was only this long because of the overdramatic ass writing.
I hated I didnāt love this like I anticipated because the story is good and I like the characters and I love a good single dad romance but I just canāt get over the way this whole book is written.
Safe to say Iām not finishing this series!

The conversation between the MCs was corny and cringe. The FMC was immature it felt like they were in junior high not fully grown adults.
So, it's like... the FMC is super into church, but not in a normal wayāmore like one of those culty vibes where everyone says weird stuff and acts with extra judgment. And then the MMC is in a full-on crime gang, but somehow heās The One⢠because reasons??
Also, the FMC keeps calling her actual dad "daddy" the whole time, which is giving major ick. Like, girl, please stop. Itās not cute, itās not quirky, itās just weird. Meanwhile, MMC is out here committing literal crimes, and weāre all supposed to pretend thatās fine because, idk, love??
Honestly, itās like someone smashed together a Sunday sermon, a Sons of Anarchy episode, and the weirdest Wattpad fic they could find, then said, āYeah, this is romance.

I wanted to love this, I really did, but I had a couple of issues while reading.
Firstly, it was very repetitive with both of the main characters constantly trying to distance themselves from each other, trying to talk themselves out of their attraction, and then, at least with the hero, pulling the heroine in and then pushing her away.
I also had trouble with the writing style of the author. Sentences aren't always complete, thoughts were at times vague or strangely worded. Occasionally, I would need to re-read a sentence or paragraph to be sure I understood what was being communicated, like this one:

And because it was so repetitive, I would often find myself skimming portions in between some dialog, otherwise, I would forget what one person had said by the time another person responded to it.
It wasn't bad by any means, just not quite as enjoyable as I'd hoped.

The writing style just didn't flow for me, and the characters were so overly dramatic, it was a lot of telling over showing, and ultimately I just didn't connect with the story or the characters.
