Super annoying writing style not a fan of the pet names . Hated how she called her dad daddy creeped me out. DNF @ 63%

this book was way better than i originally thought it was going to be, the plot definitely kept me intrigued throughout the entire thing. It was both funny and emotional, and i LOVED all the characters they all had such good personalities.

1.5

I devoured this book in one sitting. I’m obsessed with Trent ( Lawson brothers) and Eden’s story!

This book gave me all the emotions and the story was just simply addicting from the start! All I can say is that YOU NEED TO READ THIS SERIES!!

I love A. L Jackson writing style so much, her stories are full of details, Colors and emotions.. she makes me fall in LOVE with LOVE again.

I loved Trent Lawson, a tattooed biker and owner of bar who has loved to Redemption Hills with his son and 2 brothers. His son Gage is a brilliant character.
I loved Eden, a strong willed, wearing her heart on her sleeve woman who is drawn to Trent and his darkness within.
As the pair try to navigate the sparks and connection between them their attraction cannot be held back. Added in the joyous and happy Gage who is just so adorable this love story between a haunted man and a woman dealing with grief was brilliant.
I loved everything about this book and am heading straight onto book 2.
A wonderful romance, full of love, hope and it tugs at your heart strings.

Do you know those movies which it seems like they care more about the aesthetic than the actual story? They have a lot of explosions scenes with the hero walking away in slow motion, crying scenes with huge prolonged close ups, scenes that are so overly dramatic for that point in the film that you know they only put that scene so that the trailer could look cool instead of for the actual story?

That is what this book reminds me of. The characters

It gets annoying real fast. Especially when there are so many of these over dramatic descriptions that you barely know what is actually happening! Like check out this scene:

“Look at me, Eden,” he demanded. He grabbed my hand and pressed it to his face.
Fire flashed.
Streaked my arm.
The sharp contours searing into my being.
Into my flesh.
Branding me.
“Look at me, really look at me, and see me for what I am. A monster.”
Everything trembled.
My heart and my soul and my hands.
I shook my head and gulped around the knot that burned in my chest.
“No, Trent. I see my heart. I see my future. I see my life.”

I know what you are thinking, it’s the same thing I was thinking, that this sounds interesting and that you want to read the actual story, right? Right? WRONG! because what if Every scene is like this?! You know booktok where they give excerpts of books to get you hooked, well what if you just took all those reels and stuck them together? THAT is what this book was like to me.

The moment that really hit it for me was when I got to the big dramatic scene, the one that is supposed to be the pinnacle of drama where our hearts are breaking…..and I felt nothing. Like it was only after I read the scene in which I realized this was supposed to be that scene. Why? Because it wasn’t really any different than of the other scenes before and I barely knew what the big deal was in the first place. I felt nothing, not even a twinge in my heart, no feels.

So DNF.

the kid annoyed me

I don’t do well with dark romance. I enjoyed the struggles of the characters and Trent’s precious little 5yr old. There was a lot of dialogue that felt redundant.

Overall I give it a 3.25 ⭐️

If you haven’t read this one, why not

this book did not disappoint! it was so well written and the details tied the story together perfectly. trent and eden might have secured themselves a high spot of my list of favorite book couples. i just loved how vulnerable they allowed themselves to be with each other, and how they let one be there for the other whenever they were going through something. they communicated with each other so well and had REALLY great chemistry. i really like how trent had the conversation with eden about his past and told her everything instead of her having to find out everything on her own some other way. i also liked the chapters that we got where it was just a flashback of trent’s past that kind of just gave glimpses of his present character and why he is the way he is or the chapters where it was eden reading a letter from her sister. and then that plot twist? i just had to close the book and take a moment to think
