A truly beautiful book. Harmon has a way with words that just makes them flow and permeate deep into your soul. Her writing sets a tone as soft as the wind, but her characters, bold and vibrant, take you through the spectacularly constructed plot. She effortlessly weaves together history and romance with her themes of belonging, love, and fate. Definitely worth a read!

2.5

*Edited down to a 2.5 after discussing with my book club and the irritation from this book staying with me!*

This was a bit disappointing. I am very interested the history of Ireland and the time period depicted in this book. However, this took a backseat to the personal development of the main character who I found quite weak. I don't think the author did enough to set up who she was before going back in time which made her a bit of a blank slate. Her utter helplessness in the middle of the book made her unbelievable as the independent successful author she is meant to be and being someone who has apparently researched this era thoroughly her knowledge gaps when it came to things like clothing made no sense. The romance was sweet but I wasn't really invested and the relationship with the grandfather turned child was a bit creepy (even though he was the most interesting character in the book).

A lot of promise but not greatly executed.

A beautifully written historical romance about a time I know very little about. Surprised no one has made this into a movie yet! 🤞🏼

Amy Harmon excellently weaves the story through time, tying element together. The book carries you along an emotional journey with both joy and melancholy.
