I can see why the more famous stories are famous as those were the more coherent, entertaining, and less rambling of the collection.
Some bangers. Some boring stuff. Cool vibes, a lot of dead wives, and I too wonder who will be president in 2045.
Wild, imaginative and incredibly obscure at times, this was my first time reading Poe and he was a completely different author to what I expected. The tales in this book showcase his varied and incredibly active imagination yet I was also surprised that many of them were grounded in very detailed and complex scientific knowledge. The book gave me a lasting impression of its author's high levels of intellect, intelligence and logic, and they were all highly intriguing and definitely live up to the title of the collection!
I was surprised that I'd already read many of these shorts, I just hadn't known they were part of a larger compilation. Fun little spooky stories but some were definitely better than others.
