I really wanted to like this, but no, not for me. I don’t like body horror and I found the primary themes of this collection too basic.

The book was really distressing to read.

The detailed accounts of maiming, animal death, and recounted gruesome events from the news will probably stay with you long after. However, there was some missed oppotunities. I feel that the rabbit eating their babies was unneeded, as well as the priest running over the cat, because neither of them add anything to the themes of the story.

They were unnecessary. Just for shock value. Other than that, it was okay. Idk if im gonna read it again, but we’ll see

Was it effective in making to me want to stab my ear drums so I didn’t have to listen to any more of the depraved things contained in this book? Sure, I guess. Did I have a fun time while listening to the audiobook? Absolutely not.

for a while i thought this was a true story and was deeply disturbed by this knowledge. now i know it is a work of fiction and worry for the author’s wellbeing.
it was very well written and i quite enjoyed following along as this harmless interaction about an apple peeler transformed into an undoubtably detrimental relationship. the characters felt real which perhaps aided in my belief of the story being nonfiction. 
this novella was a delight in the most horrific way and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

I read this at the suggestion of a couple of friends. While I did find a few moments in this book to be disgustingly graphic overall it felt lackluster. It was just kind of disappointing ending and storyline for as much hype as it seems to have recieved. Not one I will be interested in reading again.

Was genuinely disturbed after I finished reading this. The trajectory of the storyline was something I did not expect to change so drastically. Frankly I'm Still recovering.
