What an amazing Trilogy of stories! Though I don't think 'Things have gotten worst since we last spoke' is as gory as it is made out to be online, I still think it conveys it's message in a unique (and disgusting) way.
More so than being gory, I feel like it is creative and a bit crazy.
The annecdotes about rabbits eating their babies and commandments to kill small animals made it a very interesting read

Though, to be honest I think the second story of this collection 'The enchantment' was better. I have no idea what was so magical about this story, what made me really escape intimate the Shining-esque story, but it really made and impact on me and I loved it. Though the final story was very short and much more cryptic, I still found the scenarios it posed interesting.

To whom does the bone belong?
I get that "things have gotten worse since we last spoke" is meant to be reminiscent of the anonymous and unmoderated quality of 2000s internet culture, and it does succeed at capturing the experience of that period, but I have genuinely read creepypasta written by children on /x/ that were more gripping.

"the enchantment" was irredeemably stupid. not worth reading past the first mention of the gas stove, as the rest of the story becomes transparent immediately. too many concepts crammed into a story without follow through.

"you'll find it's like that all over" saved this collection from a 2 star rating, as I personally would enjoy being mysteriously wealthy and playing little guillotine tricks on complacent suburbanites.

first story - 3 ⭐️, wonderfully written but the ending was terribly disappointing
second story - 1.5 ⭐️, nothing of note, story just did nothing for me and went nowhere
third story - 3.5 ⭐️ an interesting concept but obviously not fleshed out but as only 20 pages still enjoyable

the format of the titular novella was so interesting! i love the idea of fictional ‘true’ crime. the story however…. the pacing was literally insane. things escalated in such an unbelievable way (even for fiction).
the other two stories felt like a waste of my time. the first story ended abruptly (i don’t think i understood the climax?) and then it was followed up by a meandering story that took ages to get to the point and was ultimately underwhelming. the third story was basically the same. i liked the author’s explanation of the stories’ meanings but the execution was poor.
the word bewildered was used like 1000x - such a short book should not be using the same adjective over and over again.

Dark and odd. The titular story did draw me in and was a very quick, slightly disturbing read. The final two stories didn’t quite hit the same.
