Loved this book! San Malo really came alive and I enjoyed the slow build of multiple story lines. Marie is my favorite and I appreciate that the author chose to portray a blind character properly.

Poetic. A work of art. Didn't have the ending I hoped for though. And the beginning was slow going. Took me a moment to find my stride. All around it was a moving story and one that stays with you. It feels as though it will become one of the Classics of it's time.

I initially found it really hard to get into and initially confusing but once I got about 100 pages in it picked up and I enjoyed it a lot more

Was expecting more from the final few chapters.  Would have given 4 stars up until the 11th chapter.  Then it all went wrong.  Didn’t feel like they wrapped anything up.  But left me depressed, too much realism in a story about a magical diamond.
