Honestly, I enjoyed the book at the beginning. Then toward the middle, it started to get into details that were too much for me. (Sexual Content) I did like the main characters, Werner and Marie, which is why I continued on with the book. I would say that there are some content warnings (minor descriptions on rape, and child death). It went down hill for me, and overall it was just not a book for me.

I am not a fan of war books. But this was surprisingly amazing. I enjoy it so much. It's a heavy book, especially if you were born in Europe. And you can understand the fear, violence, and brutality of war. The story was amazingly written. Just a great book. And also love the representation of a blind person in book.

An absolutely breathtaking book. It is very description heavy so I wasn’t too sure at first but it was absolutely beautiful. I loved the way the parts were set up and the different points of view eventually intertwined. It was definitely a sad book, heartbreaking actually. To me, if it was displayed accurately, it really showed how diverse and far cast the victims of war actually are. Especially this war. This is definitely worth the read.
