I skimmed this book and read a little of the "after" timeline. The vast majority of the book was pointless, to be honest. Seemed like random character POVs that the author was playing around with. Nothing substantial.
Before is the final book in the series “After”. Personally, I feel this book definitely needs to be longer, it didn’t really flow as there are chapters from different peoples opinions which I think is really good but they weren’t long enough. After reading this final book, I did have a lot of unanswered questions and I didn’t really like the fact that it skipped so many years, I thought it was rushed and therefore didn’t flow. I do really like that you can see Hardin’s perspective in this, so some questions that you might have had in the first book do get answered which I find that it is great.
More Hessa!
I can't even begin to describe what this series has meant to me. I have loved Hardin Scott since his cranky British butt walked into Tessa Young's dorm room. Was he a complete jackals? Yes. But he was like he was for reasons that were even beyond his control. In this book, the fifth installment of the After series, we get more background on Hardin, Molly, Steph (who I actually dislike more now, if that's possible), Natalie, Melissa, Zed, Landon, Ken, Trish, and even Smith. We get to relive some of Hardin and Tessa's best moments through Hardin's eyes and some new "Hessa" moments too. I am so sad for this series to end and I really hope Hardin and/or Tessa make appearances in future books. The last chapter of this book was just perfection. Thank you, Anna Todd, for writing this series!

I read this as a prequel for the series and I think it’s supposed to be read after the series; so just a heads up if you plan on reading as it has spoilers. But I’ve already watched the movies so I know the story already. I love the story so much and this book was nice to get a behind the scenes look at some of the characters.

I actually really liked reading parts of the first book from Hardins perspective because while he was an arse you did get to see the change in him that you couldn’t always tell from the other books. I also enjoyed reading the after chapters about everyone and wrapping up the story.
I'm still going to acknowledge that this whole series was complete trash. However, I loved every bit of it and am kind of sad it's over.
