Not my favorite of the After series but still glad I read it. I did like that we got a little more detail about their lives as adults. I also appreciated that Hardin demonstrates that childhood trauma doesn’t have to affect you negatively your entire life.

I liked the beginning and the end. The stories in those chapters were new and gave us perspectives and information we didn't have before and I found that really interesting.
However, the middle chapters, that btw were the biggest part of the book, were repetitive.. and this is personal, but they repeated my least favourite part of the story.
For some moments, Hardin's constant perverted thoughts were too much. I kinda knew it was gonna happen, but I would have reduced the amount of those (and smutty scenes), especially for a short book like this one
Having said that, it was, again, addictive and enjoyable. Now that I feel way more attached to the characters, I'm glad of how it ended and glad that I read it. It was fun.

I went into this book with the same high expectations I had with the previous 4 books, but sadly my expectations were not met. Overall, this book contained more in-depth explicit scenes than any book I have ever read, ever. Keep in mind, these scenes did more bad than good to the overall storyline, as the excessiveness of these scenes indicate that Hardin Scott's main motivation and attraction to Tessa was purely based on lust and very little on intrigue or admiration for Tessa's mental intelligence & as a PERSON in general.
The previous books reeled me in because of the emotional ties they wrapped around the me as the reader, but this book unfortunately did the opposite.
I did enjoy the various POV's, but I felt that some - if not all - of them should've gone into more depth regarding their personal connection or viewpoint on Hessa's relationship - which is advertised in the blurb :/
Hardin's POV which dominated the DURING part of the book, focused on his very dark and often intrusive thoughts which definitely had an impact on my view of him as they revealed him to be very shallow and selfish. At the beginning of Hardin's POV, it is evident that Hardin is physically attracted to Tessa and views her as a 'chess piece' in this Bet that HE came up with!
"Too close. She's getting too close. It's a game, Hardin. Treat her as a piece of it."
On a whole, I really enjoyed this series as it allowed me to feel an array of emotions, which very few books have managed to do over the years. If I am being honest though, this book may have tainted Hessa's relationship, because while Hardin changed and became a better person, his and Tessa's relationship was founded on a Bet.
This series was my first Young Adult Romance series, and I plan on looking for more books like these, except with fewer explicit scenes!
3.5/5 stars

I love this book so much. I love that we get to hear from other people that were in the rest of the books, and new people we've never met before. I like that Hardin's point of view gets to be heard, as well. It's a really nice way to show some more love to the series.
I enjoyed this series alot it is one of my new fav series I can relate alot to Tessa in a way and Hardin when being an asshole lol please if u are looking for a back and forth love story read this .
