We're given some unnecessary information about the people in Hardin’s life before he met Tessa (that didn't come with any closure), but apart from that, there's no reason for this to be called Before. I didn't need to be told that Steph and Molly have feelings and motivations for acting straight-up evil. I was bored and felt that this was a pointless experience.
It's After from Hardin’s perspective and time jumps to much later. We shirked past Noah learning about Tessa’s cheating, but I would've thought that meaningful to Hardin’s ego and Hessa’s relationship dynamic. The most confusing decisions Hardin made were never touched on.
I learned more about Hardin in After We Fell and Ever After Happy than in this book.

It started off really strong but mid way got really boring especially when not all scenes from the first book were present in this. Felt like we were just jumping through loops. Also some scenes like Hardin describing his time with Tessa at the lake to his friends as he said to Tessa wasn't there. This is just one example of many.
Overall if the author had remained consistent like the start of the book it would have had great potential but sadly it doesn't.

I actually liked this book a lot but I’m a bit disappointed in the ending and I didn‘t like that there was kinda a lot smut during the last couple of pages…
