I DO NOT CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS THIS IS MY BOOK OF THE YEAR

Zero stars if I could

Cemented me as an Ava Wilder super fan. A contemporary second chance that felt believable?! They said it couldn’t be done but this proved to be the exception to the rule.

A little too much cat and mouse, resentful feelings between MC for me right now. But I would imagine others would still like it.

Thank you @prhaudio for the free audiobook, and thank you Random House & Netgalley for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I read How To Fake It In Hollywood last summer and knew I wanted to read Ava Wilder’s sophomore release. Will They or Won’t They is a standalone, second chance, enemies to lovers celebrity romance between TV show costars Lilah and Shane. They had a casual fling during their first season of filming, but after their arrangement fizzled, they did whatever they could to maintain civility on set until her contract ended. Now, three years later, Lilah is brought back on to the show for its final season and they’re forced to confront their complicated pasts.

Overall, this book felt similar in the quality of writing and story as How to Fake It in Hollywood. The angsty animosity between Lilah and Shane was palpable, so much so that I had a hard time feeling like their relationship issues were resolved. I enjoyed the reunion aspect of the show and both Lilah and Shane following their passions and diving into their issues individually and as coworkers. This wasn’t my first audio by Kristen DiMercurio but my first time listening to Jay Aaseng’s narration - together they voiced an audiobook that was easy to follow and kept me wanting to listen.

second chance. hollywood actors. lovers to enemies to lovers. she's back at the show with him as lovers after her try on becoming a movie star failed.

3 stars!

I enjoyed the lovers/enemies/lovers trope of this one. The ending felt a little rushed and chaotic to me, and a ton of it felt really unnecessary. Overall I found it to be a cute story, very slow but also a fun read.

The perfect spicy summer read! It feels a bit like fan fiction for your favorite TV procedural co-stars (I alternated between seeing them as Buffy and Angel and the stars of Castle personally) but the tension building is absolutely masterful. The reader experiences every bit of anticipation and release with the characters. Loved it!

Pick your favorite slow burn TV show, and now imagine the actors are in love in real life. After a whirlwind lust affair during the first season, Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy have spent the last 7 years hating each other. Even though she left the show three years ago, with Lilah's career future up in the air, the only shot at redemption is returning for the final season, which also means returning to Shane. As you already know, there's a thin love between love and hate! A funny, fun but also heart wrenching at times story that's sure to make you wish at least of your ships is real life.

The thing I like best about Wilder is that she doesn't shy away from showing even the best relationships are a choice and hard work. This isn't a fluffy book. Bad choices are made. Both characters are deeply unlikable for large stretches, but if the reader puts in the work watching them put in the work, the pay off is worth it.
