funny
Cute but slow and anti climactic.
“But I was always trying on different things when I was growing up, different personas, trying to figure out who I was supposed to be. I never really felt the urge to commit to anything permanently...”

Cute! Kinda abrupt how lilah went from being unsure to professing her love. Epilogue was great!
Will They or Won’t They follows the story of two actors, Lilah and Shane, who must reunite for a last of their show. The only problem is that they absolutely can’t stand each other. When I say they can’t stand each other THEY REALLY CANT. Their dislike for each other has been a development over the years of them working together on their show. One of my favorite aspects is that the story gives you glimpses of the past of how Lilah and Shane ended up where they were at now. The banter between these characters was on another level. Although there were times where my heart squeezed of pain because of some of the things they said to one another. It definitely is an enemies to lovers. Another thing I loved about this story was that it not only followed the romance but both of Lilah and Shane’s individual personal struggles. It tackled topics like insecurity and feeling like you’re stuck in a career that is not made for you. If you want a second chance/ enemies to lovers romance then i definitely recommend picking this book up on June 27th!

I loved this book! The chemistry was completely unmatched, weirdly enough, they were pretty toxic for each other for a while there and I couldn't explain why, but I was still into it.
I was incredibly invested in their relationship and I'm so glad that they had their happily ever after!

4.75 stars (rounded to 5)
cowboy like me belongs to shane and lilah, purely for the vibes
I loved this soooo much more than I anticipated, esp bc I didn’t love wilder’s debut novel — but this was *chef’s kiss*
at first I was worried bc I just didn’t like shane (oops) I just felt so angry at him and the issues he and lilah had seemed to be irreparable to me
but then, my god by the 40% mark, genuinely I finally got to see how they just so beautifully fit for each other and shame was redeemed in my eyes (plus I realized I was being too harsh and we just got more of his backstory and I just appreciated him a lot more)
this was soooo beautifully written, and I really just loved it sooooo much — the dynamic of their acting !! and their feelings !!! and bruh the hand holding in this just >>> I love hand holding ok, and it was just so beautifully described in this book
honestly I would just want to own this to go back and underline the writing, it was so beautiful
ok i’m done now peace out <3
reread review:
bro the way I hated shane and lilah in the beginning and then all of a sudden I love them is just crazy
idk how the writing does it bro, it is SOOO reminiscent of when harry met sally to me (the feelings I have towards the characters)
I love the way hand holding is described in this book, it’s something so small but sooo significant
I just didn’t remember how this ended and I don’t loveeee everything abt it but also eh not my relationship and regardless I do love the writing of this book
an underrated favorite of mine

even fictional gillovny hits idk what to tell you!
An endearing story with a twist that had me snotty-crying and then snotty-laughing.
I'm a big fan of cute, funny romance novels that give me the warm and fuzzies, and this one is no exception. However, this one is a 5-star banger for me because there is much more depth than most of the romcoms on the market.
"Will They or Won't They" is about two stars of a popular primetime television show whose characters fall in love with each other, but in real life they can't stand to be in the same room with one another. When Lilah, one of the stars of the show, comes back after being gone for a few seasons to focus on her movie career, old feelings come bubbling back to the surface for the two actors, and they must navigate through the many conflicting emotions they bring out of each other.
This novel resonated deep with me because I related so much to the main character Lilah. Like her, I have the same struggles we see her experience throughout the book. I really liked how the author handled Lilah's mental health and normalized getting help by utilizing tools like therapy. It was a breath of fresh air. It was even a delightful surprise to find out she wasn't the only one to do so.
The pacing of the book kept me thinking, "Just one more chapter..." until 2AM because I needed to know Lilah and Shane's history. I could feel the loathing these two had for each other, and it was delicious because the love they had for each other was simmering just underneath that layer of disdain. It was intriguing to see their story laid out through flashbacks and little morsels of information from different characters. Their dislike stemmed from more than just "They took my job promotion" or "We had a terrible first date" or "They're so beautiful I hate it" kind of "hatred" you see in most romcom-style novels. These two had good reasons to dislike each other, but the chemistry and heat between them was just too much to ignore. The self-sabotage of their relationship should've frustrated me but instead I felt genuine empathy for the characters as well as a visceral emotion that had my heart screaming "must protect at all costs."
Shane's vulnerability about whether he can make it as an actor once the show is over and Lilah doing everything she can to keep her heart hidden in a gilded cage with thorny vines surrounding it is heartbreaking to see, but the way the ending played out shows that while deeper issues aren't fully resolved, there is an air of hope for the two of them. After all, having everything tied up in a neat little bow is something for movies and TV, not real life, so it was refreshing to see that while it may not be absolutely perfect, it's perfect enough.
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
