Will They or Won't They

4.5⭐️Ava Wilder’s sophomore is a must read for summer 2023 and perfect for of Abby Jimenz and Emily Henry.

Premise: Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy were co-stars on a hit paranormal TV show for five seasons. However, their complicated past has left them hating each other since season one despite their characters having chemistry on the screen. After leaving the show to pursue other paths, Lilah is back for much-hyped finale season that can be the boost she needs in her acting career. Can her and Shane get along this time after years of animosity ?!

Thoughts: I loved the writing style, the authenticity and depth of the characters, and how Ava took a trope that I often find hard to connect with and did it justice. I was inserted right into the celebrity world, which is always a fun escape from reality. The only think I wish there was more of was scenes from their “couples” counseling sessions, as they were some of my favorite.

What to expect:
-Just a hook up
-Second chance love
-Celebrity romance
-Jewish representation
-Flashbacks to past
-Slow burn
-Cameos from How to Fake it in Hollywood

I read this book because of its really interesting premise and I have to say that the book did deliver. However, I found the constant denying, fighting and misunderstandings across the book to become quite tieless and confusing.

I fell like the idea was really interesting, and explored quite a lot of topics such a career paths and such, I fell like the execution and the chemistry between the characters did not fully meet my expectations.

( and a problem I’ve grown tired of across romance books written by female authors is the constant effort and love male leads show towards female characters that don’t always deserve all the forgiveness…

Can’t figure out how to rate this one. I read it in a day so it’s not all bad. But it might be if gaslighting were a romance book. I am not sure I liked any of the characters but somehow it was still an enjoyable book. A good pool or vacation read.

3.5 stars. Another mid, pretty forgettable romance. Conceptually cute but I didn't really feel a connection with either character.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

First bit was engaging, but didn’t see how it could end as anything more than most rom-coms do.

Love a good enemies to lovers trope. Another feel good romance for my inbetween reads.

I ❤️ Kristen Dimercurio. I just listened to this one and her POV was sooo effin’ delicious. She was able to convey the sultry, the bitchy, the anxiety, the LOVE so immaculately. Plus, her light Oklahoman accent for Shane is dangerously sexy.

She and Angelina Rocca are my favorite narrator discoveries this year. I want to listen to everything they perform. I wish I had more hours in the day honestly.

To sum up, I very much enjoyed Will They or Won’t They? and think you should give it a listen.

such an immense pleasure, to read an entire book in one day. this was a cute romance with the right balance of conflict, depth, and sexiness. i was a bit let down by the ending/resolution, and the Big Feeling Reveal felt rushed and not super satisfying, but overall I thought the journey was well done and the rewards were not too shabby either.

I'll read anything Ava Wilder writes! I may like this one more than her first..check it out!
