This was totally fine. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. But I LOVED How to Fake it in Hollywood, and named it one of my favorites last year. This was, not that.

This was a fun little celebrity second chance romance that had so many ups and downs I never felt secure for a moment and I kind of liked that. the audiobook was good <3

I feel like I may have a hot take because so many people seem to love this.

Interesting premise that didn’t pan out for me. Still enjoyed!

First half of the book is difficult to get through. I love a good love/hate relationship but I was not rooting for them in the slightest until the last 150 pages or so.

Ava Wilder knows how to write deeply flawed characters and deeply impactful love stories. Shane and Lilah captured my hearts and I was rooting for them through the pain, the heartache, the hope, the distrust, and the eventual happily ever after. Celebrity romance is my favorite contemporary romance trope and this is one of the best of them <3

When I tell you I YELLED -"JUST KISS ALREADY!" so many times.... Great slow burn / angsty romcom!

Recap:
Lilah and Shane met while starring in a TV drama 9 years ago. They have a whirlwind, secret romance season 1 that ended abruptly - changing their dynamic off camera. 5 years later, Lilah leaves the series to pursue a movie career - that did not work out. Now, she returns to the final season 9 to give the characters a happy ending - except Lilah and Shane have not spoken in 4 years and they despise each other.

Review:
This book includes lots of my favorite things in a rom com book - celebrity crushes, angst, sexual tension, witty banter, a slow burn, and a forced proximity / second chance romance. The things I enjoyed the most about this book was how well the love / hate line was written - knowing the deep emotions a character is feeling just by a look or a smile, the buttons you push to make someone react, the way you can read the other person to perfection no matter if they are in the other side of the room. It was sexy and sweet and so, so enjoyable!

I think I gave this book a lower rating just because it was hyped up a bit too much for me on social media and I just came from reading 4 of my favorite books of the year - but truly a fun read!
