The plot might be a little too convenient to be a truly great mystery, but this is a delightful introduction to two new favorite characters. Looking forward to reading more of their adventures.
As a mystery novel I think it has rather too much going on. It lacks elegance.
It does, however, have a Wodehousian charm. Imagine if Berty Wooster solved crimes.
The story begins with our heros making the newspaper advertisment "Two young adventurers for hire. Willing to do anything, go anywhere. No unreasonable offer refused—if pay is good." I rather fancy putting such an advertisment in the paper myself and seeing what comes of it.

I guessed the bad guy really early and I felt like it was too obvious. Usually Christie is able to stump me, so I was a bit disappointed. But this book is just pure fun.
I loved this book and read it in a day. Tommy and Tuppence are young adventurers and I loved the setting for their first outing.

Shockingly little racism for Agatha, and the evil plot of the labor party to *checks notes* call for a general strike was thwarted, which I guess is a good thing? I was confused by the suddenness of every marriage proposal, but this was a fun and quick read.
