Tommy and Tuppence run into each other after a few years and find they are both in dire strairs. With the war done, they are at lose ends and both having trouble finding jobs. Tuppence comes up with the idea that they should put out an ad offering their services for any thing. Before they can place the ad, a man pulls Tuppence aside to offer her a job pretending to be someone else. The next thing the know the two young adventurers are drawn into an adventure that threatens the very fabric of England.
This is the first Tommy and Tuppence novel I have read. Previously, I've only read short stories. I think they were better. Tommy and Tuppence spent almost the entire novel apart, each having separate adventures. Their charm is their interaction.

Hands down my least favorite Agatha Christie book I’ve read. I felt the story was flat.
This book was much more rollicking than I remember. Tommy and Tuppence two 20-somethings in 1920s London are looking for adventure and money and stumble across an international plot to topple Britain’s government. The plot is largely nonsense, but such lively, fun, quick-paced nonsense! Christie sets up a plot that keeps twisting and turning and Tuppence’s feminist verve is refreshing and modern.
