An easy read once it really gets going. I do feel like there's a bit left out.... I wish there was more to be told about the mystery of the story

Worst take ever on the body-switching trope, in this case a husband and wife. It could have gone for humor, or feminist commentary, or, given the author is non-binary, maybe something profound about gender, but there's none of that. In fact, neither of the switched characters seems particularly interested in their new body. And nobody around them, including their parents, seem to even notice they've switched. The whole plot is so random, with random things happening that do nothing to move the plot forward, slim as it is. For example, there's a terrorist attack in Paris. Or what is it with their annoyance at the lady smoking on the balcony that the couple thinks is theirs but might be shared, it's never made clear? When the body-switched couple end up moving in with the woman's parents, you'd think the parents would notice and be interested in the switch, but instead spend all their time squabbling about affairs the other had in the past. And there are too many metaphors that don't land, like, "a nondescript café with walls as blank as wax," soldiers "bunched at street corners like malevolent grapes" and "byzantine language" that reminded her of "reading a refrigerator manual." Did I mention not a single likeable character?
Did not like any of the characters, book club discussion solidified my dislike and those who finished said not worth it. No questions were answered.

Loved this, so much insight about relationships and adult-parent relationships.
