Abandoned. It was more about Galileo than his daughter.

I pretty much always love learning more about Galileo, and this book was a wonderful way to do that. Seeing him through the perspective of his Daughter and the letters she wrote was a transporting experience, and an amazing way to get in touch with events that happened so long ago. Dava Sobel was, as always, a great writer and guide through this journey.

Khrys is right! History, astronomy, medicine, physics, mathematics, religion, culture, and politics are interwoven with a compelling family story. How do bookstores decide where to place this one? That, to me, indicates an excellent read.

This book is so good!! I learned so much about Galileo and his discoveries. The story with his highly intelligent daughter was very touching.

Great piece on Galileo told mostly from the perspective of letters written to him from his daughter. Not the quickest read, but very interesting, and learned a lot more about him than I knew.

Great historical fiction and fantastic use of real letters from the daughter to Galileo. Brought him to life. Taught me more about what Galileo did in his lifetime. :)

I really hate leaving books unfinished, but it hurt to spend more time on this one. Maybe the last 1/3 talks about his daughter, but the first 2/3 did not, and this book should have been titled: Galileo: a very dry biography. Just go read Wikipedia.
