I really enjoyed John Mark Comer’s writing style. It makes it easy to read and understand. The words he said on this topic aren’t anything new but insightful to approach it in such a scriptural way. I really enjoy books that use the scriptures. I enjoyed the layout of the book and felt like I have a lot of takeaways for my thoughts towards marriage and love and singleness.

I especially enjoyed his chapter on marriage’s purpose, how he analyzes Genesis 1-3 to draw his conclusions.

Comer did a great job of explaining the purpose and reason behind marriage from a biblical perspective. I appreciated how he didn't shy away from the details, and also included singleness without making it a completely separate part of the book. It all flowed together well.

I found it a little difficult to organize my thoughts on this book, but here goes nothing: I thought Comer made some great points. A lot of this book felt pretty basic, in the sense that a lot of his ideas on God’s design for love, sex, and romance are foundational, but don’t go very far past the surface. I did find his thoughts on sexuality in the Church very interesting, especially with his experience as a pastor in Portland! He had a lot of wisdom and insight that was very beneficial to a Christian audience and those in ministry. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I think some of his other works are better if I’m being honest!
