da hat einfach an allen ecken und enden was gefehlt. die story war kaum intriguing, OBWOHL SIE MIT SO EINEM GUTEN TWIST BEGANN?? der ganze mittelteil war unnötig, die meisten szenen allgemein unsinnig.
die ganzen zeitsprünge waren uuuuunerträglich, digga wie soll ich der story folgen wenn sie all over the place ist?
die anderen „verdächtigen“ waren flat ass side characters. ich konnte nie wirklich jemanden verdächtigen weil es KEIN motiv gab!!! die letzten 50oder so seiten wars dann ja klar, die auflösung VIEL zu einfach und unkompliziert…
i‘m all in for flawed & annoying main characters aber dann sollten die flaws auch hinterfragt werden?? digga nadine war unaushaltbar, ich mochte nur paul aber der war auch NPC. actually waren ALLE NPCs und das random „side reveal“ völlig unnötig für die story?? AUCH THE VILLAN IN THE END HÄ SO ANTIKLIMATISCH UND UNNÖTIG, out of all people the most boring… davon dass er sein safe passwort nicht ändert und die tür immer offen hat will ich gar nicht anfangen DO YOU WANT TO BE FOUND OR?? also to summarize, mostly crustymustydusty aber man konnts ganz easy weglesen & it was an interesting concept mit viel (leider nicht genutztem) potential.

Death at the party starts with the murder and then switches to the morning of the party. As you read through the day, you learn more about the murder and her life, uncovering their secrets. I realize who was murders.

Nadine is the perfect hostess.. that is until there is a body found in her downstairs bathroom. Told over 24 hours this is a fantastic modern whodunnit story. With flashbacks cutting back to Nadines past explaining why this party, the first party had in 30 years is such a big deal for her famous author mothers 60th. This wasn't her only birthday party to end in tragedy. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC and getting to read another fabulous Canadian author!

"A Death at the Party" was a disappointing read, to say the least. The plot was simplistic and my mind was two steps ahead of where the book was throughout. The characters were flat, predictable and uninteresting. The writing was also lacking, with clunky and awkward prose that made it hard to immerse myself in the story. The going back and forth in time with no lead up whenever it changed was difficult to follow, and destroyed the momentum. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied by this novel. I would not recommend it to others.
