I loved this book, maybe loved isnt a strong enough word. The way it’s written there is such a seamless way the story goes from Hollis to Honoria it’s amazing you feel yourself transported into the S&S game. I love that it allowed Hollis to find her bravery as well as herself through this character she took on.  This book shows you how rewarding it is to find your people and the place where you belong even when you think you never will like you’ll always feel like an outsider.

I loved these characters (and their characters) so much. I loved the found family dynamic that felt so true to dnd, I loved the coming of age and coming into themselves journey that Hollis went on, and I just loved this story. It was so well done, especially the way that once Hollis got more into the game, it changed narration so you felt encompassed by it too, to make you feel like you were /really/ in it.

The DND/real-life aspect was also really well balanced. I don't feel like I got too much or too little of one or the other, and honestly it could've been a little bit longer, I would've loved to see more from these characters and see what's in store for them, but even then it ended in the perfect place. I just read it so fast, I wish I could've spent more time with them.

This story felt so close to my heart, and I feel so inspired now to make beautiful art and play DND, and I hope it does the same for anyone else who reads it.

The stunt between Hollis and Aini in the games-a-lot for maxx the bard turned me all the way off. I was already on thin ice with this book bc I realized Gloria was not the romantic interest and that disappointed me
